There are many methods of dieting advertised globally. These methods however, do not work the same way for everybody. There have been many dieting ideas over the years that have come and gone out of fashion. Celebrities have promoted fads like the baby food diet, the media have raved on about the watkins diet, but the common denominator is in fact, that all of these diets have resulted in enormous controversy.
One of the most controversial diets, is that of the HCG Diet. It was discovered by a gentleman named Dr Simeons, back in 1954. He claims that this method can successfully accelerate weight loss, by burning excess fat rather than lean fat or muscle.
HCG or Human Chorionic Gonadotropin is in fact a hormone that is found in large quantities in pregnant women. Dr Simeons claims that this diet will metabolise stored fat and reduce food cravings. It is administered in the form of drops. However, when you get the information regarding the HCG Diet, it is extremely strict in terms of the can and can’t do’s alongside the drops. For example, it advises;
1. Do not exercise – apparently it is not necessary and can in fact prevent your body from weight loss
2. Reduce your intake of carbohydrates – avoid potatoes, pasta, bread etc
3. No sugar – Absolutely no sugar or sweet products are allowed at all whilst on the diet
4. One spoon of milk a day – if you must have milk, it recommends that you have no more than one single spoon a day.
The above information, really begs the question as to whether the HCG drops actually work as a method of weightloss, or if the requirements of the diet listed above, as part of the HCG drops or in fact the reason for any weight lost at all?
Having said this, there are many reviews of people that claim to have been on the HCG Diet and have actually lost up to 30lbs in as little as two weeks. Some people claim it as being the most effective method of weightloss ever discovered. Although, people do agree that it isn’t an easy diet, as such. It does curb food cravings but doesn’t prevent complete temptation to cheat whilst on the diet.
Recenty however, the Journal of the American Medical Association, ruled that the HCG Diet was neither safe nor effective. As well as this, studies have revealed that HCG in non-pregnant women can cause the production of cancerous cells. The HCG drug is in fact also found in cancerous tumors.
Even more alarming is the prominance of online sales of what is described as homeopathic HCG. This is known to contain either little or no substance of HCG at all, and has been proven to be made up of other dangerous substances. As well as this, the US Food and Drug Administration have stated that the homeopathic drug is fraudulent and ineffective as any kind of weight loss aid. It has now been ruled as an illegal substance, and it is absolutely not protected or endorsed as a homeopathic drug.

Dieting along with diet foods has becoming a craze to sweep entire nations, especially as a result of external influence; like media and celebrities. But how do we ensure we eat the correct foods in order to aid weight loss, without taking drastic measures? It may seem a good idea to take a few laxatives, starve yourself or take a slimming shake. But all of these will do much more harm than good.
The key is patience and moderation. Do not expect to lose pounds overnight, and don’t completely ‘cut out’ everything, as your body will retain and store fat, thus defeating the whole object of weight loss.
There are however, ‘super’ foods or diet foods you can eat or drink that have a positive effect. They help you to remain fuller for longer, and are low in calories, in order to avoid consuming too many calories, and therefore helping to achieve weight loss.
Some of these super diet foods include:
1. Blueberries – Low in calories yet still sweet, and help to prevent cancer. And on top of this, they are a fabulous antioxidant.
2. Tomatoes – Full of Vitamin’s C, A and K, tomatoes are especially nutritious and also help fight against heart disease.
3. Spinach – A super source of Vitamin’s A and K, and is proven to improve cardio output.
4. Sweet Potato – Jam-packed with Iron, Copper, Potassium, Dietry Fiber, and Vitamin’s A, C and B6. (Quick tip – chop a small amount of banana, with cooked sweet potato and maple syrup for a tasty healthy desert.)
5. Whole Grain Bread, Brown Rice and Pasta – A good source of fiber and helps regulate bowel movements.
6. Walnuts – Full of Omega 3 fats, they provide many health benefits and are a perfect snack.
7. Salmon – High in protein, and Omega 3 fats, it is a brilliant food for dieting and should ideally be included as part of your diet at least once a week.
8. Green Tea – A great antioxidant and proven to have several health benefits. Low in caffeine too, so be sure to swap regular tea or coffee for green tea as often as possible.
9. Low fat Yogurt - Full of essentail vitamins including; Vitamin’s B2, B12, B5 and live bacterial cultures that improve the immune system.
There are also other diet foods, but it is especially important to have a good ‘balanced’ diet. This combined with regular excercise, will help to maintain the correct weight.
Eggs are a complicated one. Put simply, protein is excellent for dieting and egg WHITE is packed with protein, but egg YOLK is high in fat. Don’t be put off though, as our body does need a small quantity of fat, to prevent our body retaining it.
Essentially our bodies crave fats, so we need to ensure the correct balance. Food that contains a good amount of fiber is a great source for diet foods, as it is not digested by our body, and therefore contains no fat, sugar or calories. It promotes bowel movement and helps move foods along the digestive tract.
But be aware of foods, particularly cereals that claim to be a good source of fiber, as although we cannot get calories from fiber, it is often combined with other carbohydrates and sugars which we want to avoid.

This is a short version of our Jumpstart program.
Although it is not recommended to lose weight quickly, we have a guide to lose it quickly and healthy. I’m sure you go to site after site and read tip after tip, it all starts to sound repetitive. I am here to tell you that there is a strategy to any weight loss or diet program. Include these tips in your program and it is guaranteed that you will lose the weight!
First and foremost you must drink plenty of water. To ensure that you are taking in enough water for your weight, you must divide your body weight by 10 and the result will be the amount in cups. For example: your weight is 190 pounds/10 = 19 cups or 152 ounces. This may sound extreme, but if you subtract coffee, soda, fruit punch and etc. from your diet and substitute it for water you will see that it is not that extreme. Water detoxifies the body and jumpstarts any weight loss or diet program. In addition, water makes the body feel full naturally!
Second is a good colon cleansing program. A colon cleansing program is a must to rid the body of toxins and undigested food that is trapped in your intestines. Even if you have regular bowel movements, a colon cleansing program is necessary. Studies have shown that by the time we reach 25 there is (at least) 5-7 pounds of undigested food in our system. Colon cleansing will release most of these toxins, rejuvenate your body and get rid of excess bloating.
Third is vitamins. Vitamin supplements are essential in every diet or weight loss program. I recommend a good multivitamin containing B6,B12, and D. I also recommend Fish Oil. Vitamin supplements gives the body a natural boost of energy.
Fourth is portion size. Everyday, I am sure that you read on the Internet about portion size. The only problem is that they rarely specify what that is. I am here to give you the simple facts. It is not McDonald’s Supersize me! All the portions that are served to you, in any meal should not be bigger that the palm of your hand (if it is meat) or 1/3 cup (if it is side dish). We are built on this ideology that we must eat until we get full. To succeed, you must change your mindset! Eat until you are satisfied! Eat more during the day and make your portion sizes smaller. This will give the body time to digest and break down your food.
Fifth is exercise. Exercise is one of the most important factors in any diet or weight loss program. It is important because the body needs movement to break down the fat, lose weight and tone your body. It is not necessary to have an extreme exercise routine (some of my clients do exercise from a chair due to a disability). Your exercise program should be determined by your body structure and the amount of weight you want to lose. Remember…exercise is repetitive motion to any part of the body!
